Urmah

Opening of contact. In 1989 the multidimensional consciousness Germane transmitted, through Lyssa Royal, knowledge of the feline peoples of Lyra and their galactic history. The name of the Urmah, the world of Avyon and their role as protectors were clarified in later direct contacts and channelings. The name itself is old: in Sumerian, ur-mah means lion, and its parts are "beast" and "great". Humanity's earliest written word for a lion therefore carries this nation's name.

The nation's home world. The original home planet of the Urmah is Avyon in the Vega system of the constellation Lyra, and they hold significant colonies and allies in the region of Sirius. The sources do not entirely agree on which is home and which is outpost: Lyran tradition points to Avyon, while later contact accounts place Urmah communities in the Sirius system. The discrepancy suits the nation's character. Protectors live where they are needed and do not find the address a particularly interesting question.

How does this nation appear? The Urmah arrive as large lion- or tiger-like humanoids, as protectors of stellar alliances and as powerful telepathic warriors. They are met in channelings, in starseed memories and in dreams, particularly when Earth is being protected or a person's own sovereignty needs restoring. They do not come to converse. The presence is brief and businesslike, like a watch being kept, and it ends the moment the matter is dealt with.

Its mission beside humanity. The Urmah defend life's right to freedom and return to a person their own power of decision. The core of their teaching is a distinction many people have never quite made: a boundary is not an attack. A guard is distinguished from a threat as little by the quantity of force as by tone of voice; what decides it is whose benefit the force serves. A lion does not threaten while standing watch, it is simply there, and that is enough. Equally important is what they will not do. They do not protect a person from their own decisions, because restored sovereignty means restored responsibility as well.

How does contact open? Contact is felt in the body as the spine straightening, as steady warmth and as the urge to make a long-avoided decision. Courage appears in the body before it has time to form into a thought, and many people notice their posture has changed before the mind has decided anything. The messages are short. At their best they run to a single word, and the word is usually "now".

How can its presence be recognised? Feline figures, shades of amber and gold and a sudden clarity about one's own limits are their signs. What distinguishes this from anger is the calm. Anger accelerates and looks for a target; Urmah force settles and comes to rest. If the courage makes you want to prove something to somebody, it is something else. The encounter leaves behind a steady and alert state, and often one short sentence that should have been said a long time ago.
