Opening of contact. On 3 December 1967 a twenty-two-year-old police officer, Herbert Schirmer, came upon a craft hovering above the road while on patrol in Ashland, Nebraska. He flashed his high beams and the craft rose. Time was missing from his shift and a red welt remained on his neck. Under hypnosis with the psychologist Leo Sprinkle, Schirmer described a winged serpent emblem on the crew's uniforms, telepathic communication, a star map he was shown and a statement that Earth was being monitored and no harm was intended. He passed a polygraph, and the Condon Committee invited him to be interviewed.
The nation's home world. Reptilians originate in the constellation Draco and particularly the region of Alpha Draconis. There are several lineages, worlds and colonies, so there is no one shared home planet. Draco itself is a northern constellation that never sets: the dragon circles the pole star all night and at no point drops below the horizon. The description fits what this contact is in a human life. It does not come and go but circles the same course and is always somewhere in view.
How does this nation appear? Reptilians are met as reptilian humanoids, in connection with underground bases and within networks of power and shapeshifting. The presence feels heavy, tests boundaries and brings hidden structures into view. The emblem Schirmer described is worth noting: the winged serpent is among the oldest marks of power humans have carved, and the same figure recurs in the art of Mesopotamia, Egypt and ancient America. The encounter arrived, in other words, wearing a badge humanity already had a name for.
Its mission beside humanity. The value of this encounter is in the test. It exposes very quickly the moment a person is about to hand their decision over to someone else or to their own fear. One thing must be said plainly, however: the teaching is meant to be turned inward. It is a tool for recognising your own boundary and not a lens through which to look at other people. The moment it starts being applied to others it has already turned the wrong way round, because the fear has moved into the one doing the looking. Used rightly, it teaches the recognition of manipulation, the guarding of one's own will and the refusal of alliances made out of fear.
How does contact open? Contact may feel like oppressive energy, like a testing of boundaries, or like a situation in which fear is trying to make the decision on a person's behalf. The mark is haste, and the sudden narrowing of the options to two. The most important answer is calm will and time: a refusal requires no justification, and a decision may be postponed until tomorrow.
How can its presence be recognised? A low heavy vibration, reptilian eyes, marks of power and a strong need to protect one's own space belong to this contact. Fear is nevertheless a poor witness. A presence that frightens is not automatically hostile, and a presence that soothes is not automatically friendly. The more reliable measure is what the contact does to your range of choice: does it add options or remove them. An encounter exposes weak boundaries fast, which is an unpleasant service but a service all the same.
